Fat Albert Gore talking out of his butt again
A few nights ago, Fat Albert Gore was on the Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien to discuss “Global Warming”. During the interview the subject turned to geothermal energy production. Here is the clip of that expert, Fat Albert, telling a national TV audience everything he knows about earth science.
Now, let us see just how stupid this man is:
1. Just two kilometers (1.25 miles) below the surface of the earth, the temperature is incredibly hot!
2. The interior of the earth is several million degrees hot.
3. In most places geothermal is practical for the generation of electricity.
Now for some “Inconvenient Facts”:
1. Well Fat Albert, the temperature a few miles down in the earth is really not that hot, except in certain places. Actual temperatures in a gold mine, two miles underground is 140 degrees Fahrenheit ( 60 degrees Celsius). Check it out here Fat Albert, http://www.princeton.edu/pr/pwb/99/1213/microbe.shtml . I think you should be able to trust Princeton University.
2. Earth’s Core Temperature is somewhere between 5000 to 7000 degree Celsius ( http://hypertextbook.com/facts/1999/PhillipChan.shtml ). The Sun’s Core Temperature on the other hand is about 15,000,000 degree Celsius. Just to help Fat Albert out, the earth is where we live and the sun is that big thing in the sky that is hot!
3. I hate to be the one to tell you this Fat Albert, but geothermal power is only practical in a few places on the earth right now. Those areas are where magma (the stuff that when it comes out of a volcano is called lava) comes close to the earth’s surface and heats the water in the water table hot enough to cause steam. This steam is tapped to drive generators, just like a coal fired or nuclear power plant. Now it is also true if one drills far enough down, you know, about five, six or more miles down, the rock can be hot enough to heat water to its boiling point. The problem with this is that you have to send water down that far and then bring the heated water back up, so you have to have a very large water supply to do this. There can also be other problems, like earthquakes; ttp://www.nytimes.com/2009/06/24/business/energy-environment/24geotherm.html?_r=1. Of course those earthquakes would be beneficial if they wiped out Nancy Pelosi’s district.
So Fat Albert, once again you have shown the American public just what a moron you are! Anyone who believes one word out of your mouth should be subjected to drug testing.
“During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet.”

Yeah. BTW, an earthquake did strike SF a century ago.

You think?
November 22nd, 2009 at 10:55 amI heard 11 AP reporters were now fact-checking Gore’s book.
Oops, sorry, that was Sarah Palin’s book.
November 22nd, 2009 at 8:30 pmAnd they teach this bunk to “The Children”. Terrible!!
