Hank Butehorn Releases Statement on Tuesday’s Election
![]()
Hank Butehorn, Conservatives with Attitude! blogger and former State Chairman of Lonegan for Governor, has released a statement on the upcoming race for Governor:
Alexander Hamilton said, “A good government implies two things; first, fidelity to the objects of government; secondly, a knowledge of the means by which those objects can be best attained.”. Unfortunately for the residents of the Garden State Jon Corzine lacks both.
Our current governor has fostered government growth and dependence, increased taxes, advanced a left wing social agenda and advanced the ever quickening creep of socialism at levels beyond any other in memory.
On November 3rd voters have the opportunity to tell all elected officials they will no longer stand for the continued pursuit of Corzine’s radical left wing big government agenda by voting him out of office. As Hamilton aptly noted, “the natural cure for an ill-administration, in a popular or representative constitution, is a change of men.”
This year’s governor’s race puts the current Leftist administration of Jon Corzine against Chris Christie and his running mate Sheriff Kim Guadagno, and my vote will go to Chris Christie and Sheriff Kim Guadagno.
Hank Butehorn
Conservatives are starting to return to the Christie column.

What about you, Mike?
October 30th, 2009 at 9:14 pmHank is right on target! CONSERVATIVES Scott Garrett and Mike
Doherty campaigned today Friday for CHRIS CHRISTIE!!! What do the Christie haters say about that? I guess they now say that Garrett and Doherty are RINOs! Sensible Conservatives such as Butehorn, Garrett & Doherty are supporting Christie! Even though Christie is not a true movement, real Conservatives can see the clear difference between Christie and Corzine.
CONSERVATIVES, vote for CHRISTIE!!!
October 31st, 2009 at 12:10 amChristie haters, come aboard!

October 31st, 2009 at 1:04 amNow what, Richard? Your absence from the comments of these last two posts is telling. Conservative you may be, and attitude you may have, but balls, it appears, you have not.
Farewell.
October 31st, 2009 at 7:23 amHey Dickie Z.
Balls, you talk about balls you coward. If anyone has no balls here, it is you. I have known that Hank was going to vote this way for awhile. Unlike a little twirp like yourself, he decided to vote this way after actually THINKING about it himself. You on the other hand are nothing but a little sheep who follows the flock.
October 31st, 2009 at 8:54 amSo, if I understand your logic, Hank’s vote for Christie is more valid than anyone else’s based upon YOUR opinion that it has been “thought about”.
Your thought process is Clinton-like. All of your credibility (if there ever was any) has been lost.
You sir, although perhaps not a RINO, are just as bad, you are a RINO-enabler and apologist.
Buh-bye, Dick, you’re done.
October 31st, 2009 at 10:30 amLike Hank, I was a staunch supporter of Steve Lonegan. Initially, I viewed voting for Chris Christie as choosing the “lesser of two evils” candidate. Over the past months, my view has changed.
I have seen Chris Christie several times, including last week at the ROOR event (Recovering Our Outdoors Rally). The sportsmen and conservationists there were largely Lonegan supporters voting for Christie because he was “better than Corzine.” Christie’s address showed a true understanding of our concerns – primarily, that science, not politics, should be the determining factor in managing our outdoors and wildlife. When he was done, the crowd was visibly swayed from lukewarm voters to enthusiastic supporters.
That’s only one example. I wanted specifics from Christie, and I feel as though I’ve heard them. For example, his position on insurance mandates, while perhaps not well-communicated to voters, is a reform that could truly help all of us. Generally, Christie shows an eagerness to do away with costly mandates and shrink the bloated government that is eating our taxpayers alive. Additionally, we need a governor that supports school choice and stands up the NJEA.
Most importantly, Christie has shown an understanding of specific issues and a willingness to take them on one at a time to fix the central issue facing New Jersey – recovering our economic health while improving our quality of life and maintaining the things that we love about the Garden State.
On Tuesday, instead of simply looking forward to a Corzine loss, I am enthusiastically looking forward to celebrating a win by Chris Christie and Sheriff Kim Guadagno.
October 31st, 2009 at 10:34 amCongratulations, Grace. Your vote will count, since you have clearly “thought about it”. Pity us poor souls deemed not to have thought about it, and whose vote won’t count because Dick has so decreed.
October 31st, 2009 at 10:42 amGrace: “Additionally, we need a governor that supports school choice and stands up the NJEA.”
Grace, that’s like saying we need a governor who supports capitalism and stands up for socialism. The NJEA (together with the other teachers’ unions and all other public employee unions) is part of the PROBLEM not the solution.
If we want to improve the public school system, we can start by abolishing the NEA, NFT and NJEA. Then we can abolish the NJ Dept. of Education and leave the question of public education where it rightly belongs: in the communities.
October 31st, 2009 at 2:37 pmManly,
I believe Grace accidently dropped the word “to” in her statement. From her context, I feel confident that she meant to writte, “Additionally, we need a governor that supports school choice and stands up TO the NJEA.”
Therefore, you are both in agreement regarding this issue.
October 31st, 2009 at 2:46 pmSo noted, DiMarco. Good catch.
October 31st, 2009 at 2:56 pmThanks DiMarco – yes I dropped the “to.” Manly, you and I are on the same page.
October 31st, 2009 at 6:06 pmHey Dickless:
Hank told me back in August he was going to vote for Christie. Again the logic being, “He is the less of two evils”. The only problem with that logic is simple, the common denominator is evil. Here, take your pick on who was less evil, Hitler or Stalin? Same logic, same lame excuse for voting for someone. Of course a person with your lack of functional brain cells would never understand a rational thought process, but then lemins like youself never do.

October 31st, 2009 at 9:16 pmConservatives who own homes, coach ball teams, attend church, pay taxes have long supported Chris Christie. Conservatives who, like me, have had to balance municipal budgets and cut municipal spending in the real world, who have had to trim business expenses during a recession, and who pay college tuition have long supported Chris. Many supported him in the primary and even more have supported him in the general. We just don’t commit every thought we have to writing, so you don’t necessarily hear from us in the blogosphere, but we are here, in great numbers. I like Steve Lonegan. He is a great American who has done – and will continue to do – great things for New Jersey. Chris Christie, too, will do great things for New Jersey.
October 31st, 2009 at 11:12 pmWow, I go incommunicado for a couple of days and the world turns upside down!
I respect Hank Butehorn, Steve Lonegan and other Conservatives who have decided to vote for Chris Christie. However, the person whose voice I needed to hear to conivnce me to support Mr. Christie’s candidacy was Mr. Christie himself. Unfortunately, I have not heard anything from his mouth that changes my mind about what he represents.
I have said all along during this general election campaign that endorsements by Bret Schundler, Steve Forbes and others were not a sufficient reason for me to vote for Mr. Christie, especially given Mr. Christie’s public statements embracing Barack Obama personally and in policy. I trusted Schundler and Forbes, just as I trust Butehorn and Lonegan – but with respect to all of them, I don’t play follow the leader when it comes to politics.
All of the people who are changing their vote based on what Lonegan and Butehorn are saying are doing the exact same thing that those who followed Schundler and Forbes did. The difference is that those who acted earlier to use endorsements as a basis for how to vote did so at a time when they could make a difference for Mr. Christie.
If it is right to choose your candidate on the basis of endorsements, then all of Christie’s supporters have been right – and the Conservative holdouts really owe Mr. Christie and his supporters an apology. It almost looks as though Dino and his pals were right: support seems to have been withheld from Mr. Christie based on spite over Mr. Lonegan’s loss in the primary.
For me, it has never been about spite. Nothing would make me happier than to have been wrong about Mr. Christie. If he does win on Tuesday, nothing would make me happier than to see Mr. Christie govern from the Right and to be re-elected in 2013 so that he serves two full terms.
But I know what I know, and I can only act on what I know. I do not follow Mr. Lonegan’s lead any more than I follow Mr. Schundler’s or anyone else’s. Nothing from Mr. Christie’s mouth indicates to me that he is a Conservative – not even his plea to Mr. Lonegan to campaign on his behalf.
Unless Mr. Christie says something himself that changes my mind between now and Tuesday, I cannot support voting for him.
November 1st, 2009 at 2:04 pmTo vote for Christie over Corzine may seem to be a good choice, but for me after Christie’s comments in Dover about illegal aliens to vote for Christie sends the wrong message. $4000 a year on a family healthcare plan in NJ,the value of our working families, and basic rules of law that are only enforced upon those americans whom can t afford other wise ……. so support Mr Christie and support another LIAR.
