Is This Racism?

by: Mike Proto | September 13

I came across this video which was produced by 20/20. Not sure when it aired, but I was definitely intrigued as this was set in Ridgewood, NJ here in Bergen County.

I have my thoughts on it, but I wanted to see how our readers would react first. Take a look.

I can see how someone could conclude that it was racism. However, it is real easy to use our prejudices to make a situation appear to be race motivated. Did they interview any of the people that did not call the police when the white kids were vandalizing the car? If so, it was not part of the broadcast. I think their responses would have been the most enlightening to determine if racism was a factor.

Racism and prejudice exists in the world. It occurs from all kinds of people towards all kinds of people. This will never change as long as people views others as groups and not as individuals.

Here’s one thought that entered my mind. Would the reaction have been the same among residents of another town/city, say Hackensack or Paterson or Newark?

Here’s another point that 20/20 can investigate….go into various neighborhoods and perform acts of vandalism & looting. See how many local people join in.

The real issue here is that if ABC were really concerned about racism, it would stop identifying people by their racial groups. Period.

To the extent that there is any racism out there, Leftists like this ABC crew (a) create it, (b) perpetuate it, and (c) feed off of the racial divisions it creates.

If ABC really wanted to come out against racism, it would demand laissez faire capitalism, which rewards people for their ability rather than their membership in any government approved group. But ABC does not run stories explaining to ordinary Americans how the free market actually punishes racism while rewarding color-blind devotion to ability.

ABC is the racist here, not the residents of Ringwood.

    Very good point, Ed.

    Thank you, Di Marco.

If ABC were truly interested in explaining to people the way laissez faire capitalism rewards color-blindness and punishes racism, I am sure they could get an interview with Thomas Sowell on very short notice.

But ABC is not interested in exploring how to eliminate racism. It is interested in exploiting racism to advance a statist agenda.

Good points all around. Bottom line is if you see a crime being committed, call 9-1-1 immediately and be a good witness; regardless of the race of the assailants. The average citizen should not physically intervene unless it is a matter of life and death – as more than likely they would also end up hurt.

It is also interesting to note that this wouldn’t happen in 2/3 of America, where private citizens have the right to carry a firearm. We need to return to property rights where force can legally be used to protect your property.

God made man, Sam Colt made him equal. :)

I agree with you Ed. But I also know that this type of system will NEVER exist. There is not government that will ever give up that power over its people

    I meant to say…

No government will ever give up that amount of power over its people. No politician will ever give up that power. No political party will ever give up that power.

    Ed Mazlish Says:

    Al,

I don’t agree with your bleak assessment…but regardless, we are talking about the press when we are discussing ABC. This was a dishonest piece of propaganda. If ABC wanted to fight racism, it should have interviewed a free market economist like Thomas Sowell, who would explain how laissez faire works to destroy racism (just as it operated to destroy slavery).

Laissez faire would be more attainable if intellectual leaders such as the press would tell the truth about capitalism rather than smear it with lies. Of course, it is hard to fault the press when the supposed advocates of laissez faire in the Republican Party advocate bailouts, saving Medicare and Social Security, and forcing health insurance companies to “insure” against pre-existing conditions.

I would have called the cops on either group and I must admit I find it puzzling more people did not call the cops on the whites.
I can not imagine calling the cops on people sleeping in their car no matter what their color. That does appeaqr to be Racsist.

I also can not believe that Kim went up to three teenagers (no matter what their color) trashing a car with pipes. She is incredibly stupid . She could have been killed or severly injured.

It would be interesting to do the same experiment in a black neighborhood.

I agree with Ed. Insurance companies should be allowed to do anything they want and insure who they want. Medicine is big business and sick people are a drain on profits. If you are sick and can’t afford to pay the doctor or hospital, that’s your problem, not mine.

Al, Ed and Victor are sickos!

Medicine is big business?? Sick people are a drain?? What kind of a world are you psychos living in??
