September IS National Hydrocephalus Awareness Month!

I am not easily impressed; my life has been filled with great opportunities that most people only dream of doing or have watched me doing them. But to hear your name, your wife’s name and your son’s name being mentioned on the Floor of the House during a speech, and being talked about, that’s pretty cool.
In only 3 month’s time, the House considered, voted out of Committee, and then passed in the full House, H. Res. 373, which designates the month of September National Hydrocephalus Awareness Month, in honor of my 4 year old son Cole, and other children like him, who suffer from this incurable brain condition.
With steps like this being taken, and the level of awareness being raised, perhaps, there is hope for better treatment of the condition, if not a cure someday soon.
Congresswoman Michele Bachmann and her staff, Michelle, Brian and Dave, really went above and beyond the call of duty in getting this Resolution introduced and passed in almost exactly 3 months time!
There were 89 Co-Sponsors on the Resolution, and one of them, Congressman Leonard Lance, who has always supported my family’s efforts where Cole was concerned, stepped up big time and worked diligently with his staff, Todd and Bachmann and her staff to assist in getting this done.
In fact, it was Congressman Lance who spoke of the effort on the Floor of the House just a few days ago:
If you leave a comment, this is not about Leonard Lance, it’s about Cole and other children with incurable brain condition, please keep that in mind.

Congratulations Michael and Kim for your tireless work on behalf of your son Cole and the countless numbers of children born with incurable brain conditions. God Bless You.

Congratulations to you and your family. Obviously, the phone calls worked as the woman who answered the phone in Steny Hoyer’s office sounded as if she had hear what I was saying often already.
This was a great effort! Good luck on your next step.
July 31st, 2009 at 3:25 pmCongrats to “The Commish” and “Congressman Cole”.
This goes to show that regardless of however distasteful some of his votes, Leonard Lance remains a class act. Thanks Mike for setting an example to other conservatives of how to advance our cause on issues of importance without being petty or personal.
July 31st, 2009 at 4:04 pmLance is a liberal. Down with Lance …. Booooooo Lance….
July 31st, 2009 at 10:04 pmMichael:
Great job, but one question, can I still work to get Lance thrown out next year?

August 1st, 2009 at 2:15 amIt is just awesome to see how The Illions family has persevered and never ever given up the fight. There is no wrong way to do the right thing. Congressman Lance has finally done something we can cheer about and wave the flag. It has taken much time, blood, sweat, and many tears for you to do what you have done, and I stand in awe. My sincerest congratulations to the Illions on behalf of the Woodbridge Conservative GOP. The battle has been won, but the war continues …

Was it right to get rid of Sadam Hussein? What if we had to nuke Baghdad to do it thereby killing millions of innocents? Would that have been the wrong way to do the right thing? Just wondering!
