Tom Kean, Sean Kean & Kip Bateman Vote YES on Albin’s Lifetime Nomination to N.J. Supreme Court
When you are the Senate Minority Leader and 10 of the 14 voting members in your caucus vote the other way, especially on an issue that your vote is on the wrong side of, there’s a problem.
And that is the situation that Tom Kean, the NJ GOP Senate Minority Leader finds himself in. I was starting to see a glimmer of hope in Tom’s ability to hold the caucus together, and in cases when he couldn’t, at least he was still on the right side, and the few vote jumpers that voted with the Democrats were on the wrong side.
Now Tom plays the role of vote jumper and joins with the Democrats, along with 3 other Republicans.
I was surprised today when I learned Republican’s Tom Kean, Sean Kean, Kip Bateman and Phil Haines joined together with every Democrat to support the lifetime renomination of Barry Albin to the NJ Supreme Court.
What does this say about our Party in New Jersey standing up for what is right and putting an end to Judges who legislate from the bench? What does it say when the Senate GOP Leader of our Party joins with EVERY Democrat to vote with them?
Will Chris Christie release a statement condemning this vote of one of his campaign supporters in Tom Kean Jr.?
Will new NJ GOP Chairman Jay Webber, already being tested by Republican leaders leaning left, talk about standing together and not supporting activist Judges?
The more things stay the same, the less chance they have of ever changing.

This proves the Keans, Bateman, and Haines don’t have a freakin clue! Nothing new here.
Neither Christie nor Webber will put out any public proclamation against those RINOs.
We’re in for more of the same, obviously.
June 26th, 2009 at 2:52 pmWe are less than two years away from their primary date. We need to start interviewing potential replacements along with raising the funds that will be needed to effectively take on these entrenched representatives of what is wrong in the GOP.
June 26th, 2009 at 2:57 pmYou can count the good Republican Assemblymen on one hand, and you don’t need any hands for counting good Republican Senators. They all suck!
Whenever they are out of power, they talk tough. What did our Republican Sellouts get for their votes. They were bribed with something and you need to find out exactly what, so you can use it to flush them away.
Don is 100% right. Christie is betraying his base if he is silent on this. Webber should assert himself in this matter and tell those traitors to get out of town by sundown.
June 26th, 2009 at 3:23 pmI predicted Bill Bradley will replace Corzine on the ballot with the assistance of Albin, and will defeat Corzine.
Republicans should learn some gun safety so they stop shooting themselves in the foot.
June 26th, 2009 at 3:27 pmI meant defeat Christie.
June 26th, 2009 at 3:28 pmWhy is anybody surprised by this? The republican party is nothing but a bunch of self-serving RINOs, period! Until we clean out the hen house and put some real conservatives in Trenton, nothing will change. Lonegan was so right, “some new names, same old republican party”.
June 26th, 2009 at 3:57 pmThe NJGOP Senators deserve our support for unanimously standing up for our 2nd ammendment rights and common-sense in opposing the one gun a month bill. I imagine Tom Kean played a key role in keeping the entire caucus united.
June 26th, 2009 at 4:28 pmIts absurd that anyone who believes in the rule of law would vote in favor of Albin. Shame on them.
