Stephen Moore Addresses New Jersey Citizen Activists

by: Jesse O. Kurtz | May 31

“Hello fellow GM and Chrysler shareholders,” quipped Stephen Moore.

Mr. Moore is a brilliant thinker and very quotable. Here are a few memorable remarks.

“Isn’t it wonderful that the New York Times is in bankruptcy?”

“Henry Paulson will go down as the worst Treasury Secretary in American History.”

On a side note, my wife and I are big fans of Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. If you have not read it, go out, get it, and read it.

The book is an intriguing, but long read. For now, read Stephen Moore’s “‘Atlas Shrugged’: From Fiction to Fact in 52 Years.”

Mr. Moore explains a Trillion dollars to students through the example of LeBron James. It would take 25,000 NBA seasons for LeBron James to earn a trillion dollars under his current salary.

“Can we all agree that getting rid of the income tax for a year would be cheaper than what has been spent to ’stimulate’ the economy?”

Our national security has been weakened because of our bad economic policy. Who can exert pressure on North Korea to stop shooting missiles and developing nuclear weapons? China can. Yet the United States cannot pressure China to do anything due to our reliance on China to purchase our debt.

“This is the first time since World War II that our nation has printed money to pay for our debt.”

Mr. Moore shared a few economic definitions. ‘Monetizing the debt’ is when the government prints money to pay for its debt. ‘Inflation’ is when there are too many dollars chasing too few goods.

A friend of Mr. Moore shared with him that the Federal Reserve is not going to stop printing money until they run out of ink.

“I happen to believe that global warming is the biggest scam of the last two decades [roaring applause].”

Ecology textbooks from thirty years ago were worried about another ice age. 1960 = 25,00 polar bears, today = 60,000

“You have a crucially important election on Tuesday.”

“I am not going to take sides, but I have to say that I love Steve Lonegan.”

“I am not going to endorse Steve Lonegan, but he is just about right on every issue.”

“Jon Corzine should be impeached for fiscal treason.”

Mr. Moore thinks Republicans can win both NJ and VA’s Governor’s seats.

He identifies the top three national priorities:

1 – We need a gold standard.

2 – We need radical tax reform, either a flat tax or a fair tax.

3 – Spending needs to be frozen until the budget is balanced.

He closed by stating that the big government advocates in D.C. are scared of the people who attended the tea parties and are fighting for freedom.

    Fielding Mellish Says:

Addressing a crowd of conservatives with statements such as “global warming is the biggest scam” and “Jon Corzine should be impeached” has as much significance as General George Armstrong Custer claiming “There are not enough Indians in the world to defeat the Seventh Cavalry”.

Moore’s claim that “this is the first time since World War II that our nation has printed money to pay for our debt” is difficult to comprehend. We became a debtor nation in 1985. Is he saying that our total debt today has exceeded all the money that we had ever printed then? Or is he just categorically banging his chest saying “Me Tarzan, Them Jane”? Does anybody have any suggestions as to what Moore meant when he said “this is the first time since World War II that our nation has printed money to pay for our debt”?

Considering the size of our debt and the bankruptcy of so many monumental entities one has to wonder how anybody can endorse an unabated and unregulated supply side economy. Fortunately the outcome of Tuesday’s election will be decided by working class citizens. Don’t be fooled by these slick talkers. Ayn Rand’s “Atlas Shrugged” was a work of fiction, and bad fiction at that! Phooey!
