Obama & The Democrats Vs. The Constitution

by: Michael Illions | February 23

Get used to it. We will see this scenario routinely over the next 4 years. It always seems to be the Democrats vs. the Constitution over something when it suits their needs to usurp our Founding Document(s).

The storyline:

State governors — looking down the gun barrel of long-term spending forced on them by the Obama “stimulus” plan — are saying they will refuse to take the money. This is a Constitutional confrontation between the federal government and the states unlike any in our time.

In the first five weeks of his presidency, Barack Obama has acted so rashly that at least 11 states have decided that his brand of “hope” equates to an intolerable expansion of the federal government’s authority over the states. These states — Washington, New Hampshire, Arizona, Montana, Michigan, Missouri, Oklahoma, California, Georgia, South Carolina, and Texas — have passed resolutions reminding Obama that the 10th Amendment protects the rights of the states, which are the rights of the people, by limiting the power of the federal government. These resolutions call on Obama to “cease and desist” from his reckless government expansion and also indicate that federal laws and regulations implemented in violation of the 10th Amendment can be nullified by the states.

When the Constitution was being ratified during the 1780s, the 10th Amendment was understood to be the linchpin that held the entire Bill of Rights together. The amendment states: “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”

Would love to see New Jersey added to this, but with Democrats in control of Trenton and some squishy “Republicans”, it won’t happen in our lifetime.

Be that as it may, let’s get back to the task at hand. But first, where is the mainstream coverage of this, where 20% of the STATES in this Country have passed resolutions taking Obama to task for overreaching and trampling on State Rights?

Compare that to the resolutions that little town Councils have passed against President Bush over the years, either protesting the War or some other anti-Bush, anti-Military NON-BINDING resolution and it is all over the Times, both NY & LA, and covered on TV during news segment how the Country is turning on Bush.

But 11 STATES pass resolutions over Obama’s proposed violation of the 10th Amendment and no one says a word. I wonder why. Could it be that either the MSM is protecting him or agree with his agenda and how he is going about enforcing it?

Either way, the first month of the Obama Administration has seen slipping approval numbers, although still high, and a crazy appointment process of his cabinet members, or should I say, non-appointments, and this challenge to the Constitution by the Obama Administration is sure not going to help none.

The way things are going, you could see a day in the future when the word “secession” re-enters the American discourse.

With the ways things have been going, I have been thinking about Singapore. Secession could simplify my plans.
