Huckabee: Stimulus Bill Is “Anti-Religious”

by: Michael Illions | February 11

The storyline:

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee warned supporters Tuesday that the $828 billion stimulus package is “anti-religious.” In an e-mail that was also posted on his blog ahead of the Senate’s passage, Huckabee wrote: “The dust is settling on the ‘bipartisan’ stimulus bill and one thing is clear: It is anti-religious.”

The former Republican presidential candidate pointed to a provision in both the House and Senate versions banning higher education funds in the bill from being used on a “school or department of divinity.”

“You would think the ACLU drafted this bill,” Huckabee said. “For all of the talk about bipartisanship, this Congress is blatantly liberal.”

“Emily’s List, radical environmental groups, etc. all have a seat at the decision making table in Washington these days,” he continued. “Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid are in charge and they are working with an equally ‘progressive’ President Obama (remember his voting record is more liberal than Ted Kennedy!).”

Michael’s POV:

Huckabee certainly has a great point, as provisions in the Bill do seem to target certain religions by penalizing schools, organizations or buildings that would host events. And far-left organizations have had a say in dictating policy, as many of these groups former leaders are IN the Obama Administration and carrying out the far-left agenda of the groups Huckabee mentioned.

But the anti-religious provisions are just one of many that make this Bill a major problem. It is also anti-free market and anti-business, while pushing the agenda of the far-left with Universal Health Care provisions and taxpayer money to many far-left groups like Planned Parenthood and ACORN. This will be a Bill that is long remebered and the negative effects far reaching.

Organized religion gets more than enough money from the sheep it brainwashes for any of this to matter. Of all the things that are horribly wrong with this bill, this is not one of them and it exposes Mike Huckabee for the vile, sickening fraud that he is.

Fundamentalist christians, starting with Mike Huckabee, need to realize that their fascist ideology has no place in determining how the government operates. It’s bad enough that President Obama is continuing the funding of President Bush’s faith based initiatives. At least this is a step in the right direction.

What really gets me here is that it seems like Huckabee’s complaint is, “Hey, how come those guys get all the pork and we don’t?”

No wonder he grew the size Arkansas state government!

Christian “conservatives” are not conservatives at all and they do not believe in shrinking the size government. They’re fascists who want to grow government in their favor just as much as far left socialists do.

Dino, I disagree with you. The bill is targeting people of faith. Check out what Senator DeMint had to say on the subject.
