By the way, fight the Scheme-ulous Bill here: www.NoStimulus.com
ON EDIT: Via Fausta’s Blog…add another $340 billion to this tasty crap sandwich in interest alone.

Mike:
Your exhaustive list just proves that this bill is completely irredeemable. No amount of tax cuts could justify it, and for the Republicans to be bought off with the paltry tax cuts Obama and the Democrats have offered proves only that they have no sense of self-esteem or self-worth.
Better that the Republicans let these scandalous details become public and have the bill pass without any Republican support than for them to sign on to any compromise as a result of a filibuster.
February 2nd, 2009 at 10:03 pmIf you are going to use all the commas and zeros, you don’t need to use the words million or billion.
February 2nd, 2009 at 10:26 pmIt’s called reinforcing the point Di Marco.
Ed: The tax cuts aren’t even tax cuts. They are tax credits equivalent to welfare payments because people who don’t pay federal income tax will be getting checks.
By the way, I forgot to point out how there is also money in the bill for illegal immigrants.
Hope. Change. Hope. Change.
February 2nd, 2009 at 10:56 pm[...] up on my post from last evening regarding the wasteful Scheme-ulous Bill, I think it’s important and relevant to look at it [...]
February 3rd, 2009 at 10:06 amProto:
It is called making a grammatical error, stop stroking your ego.
February 3rd, 2009 at 10:47 amMike:
You are exactly right that many of the “tax cuts” are in fact welfare payments disguised as tax cuts. That does not detract from my point. Even if they were real tax cuts they would not justify this bill. No amount of tax cuts can justify this level of government spending.
What could Obama possibly say in 4 years if today the Republicans stood up and said:
“We disagree with the President’s proposals. We think they are wrong. We think they will not only not help, but in fact make the situation worse. The better solution would be tax cuts and repealing regulations that make it impossible for businesses to produce. However, we recognize that the president won the election. We do not have the votes in Congress to stop him. We will not obstruct his program with a filibuster. But we ask the American public to judge him by the results of his plan. If his plan succeeds, re-elect him. But if it does not, we hope that you will vote for real change in the next election.”
What is he going to say when his plan fails, as we know it will? That he needs more time?
If the Republicans in Congress have any spine, this is what they would do.
February 3rd, 2009 at 10:56 amWhen are you going to run for Congress Mazlish?
February 3rd, 2009 at 12:21 pmBuddy:
I have a hard enough time persuading people on this Conservative website. I seriously doubt I could win any kind of general election, particularly in a state as Blue as NJ.
February 3rd, 2009 at 12:58 pmWell, I suppose you ought to tone it down then. One of these days one of these “spineless” people will catch uo with you.
February 3rd, 2009 at 3:13 pmThanks Buddy. I’m not a RINO nor am I a power lusting socialist. Therefore, I do not care if I get elected. I just care about fighting for my principles, and I will let the chips fall where they may.
February 3rd, 2009 at 3:22 pmHere are some interesting comparisons that I came across from Bianco Research by way of FRC:
Marshall Plan: Cost: $12.7 billion (adjustment for inflation $115.3 billion)
Louisiana Purchase: Cost: $15 million (adjustment for inflation $217 billion)
Race to the Moon: Cost: $36.4 billion (adjustment for inflation $237 billion)
Korean War: Cost: $54 billion (adjustment for inflation $454 billion)
The New Deal: Cost: $32 billion (estimated), (adjustment for inflation $500 billion, approximately)
February 4th, 2009 at 8:12 amRepublicans need to start asking:
“Is this ‘bit’ important enough for YOUR childern to pay for?”
“And, is THIS ‘bit’ important enough for YOUR childern to pay for?”
“And, is THIS ‘bit’ important enough for YOUR childern to pay for?”
“And, is THIS ‘bit’ important enough for YOUR childern to pay for?”
“And, is THIS ‘bit’ important enough for YOUR childern to pay for?”
“And, is THIS ‘bit’ important enough for YOUR childern to pay for?”
“And, is THIS ‘bit’ important enough for YOUR childern to pay for?”
“And, is THIS ‘bit’ important enough for YOUR childern to pay for?”
Nearly everyone will say no to each ‘bit’.
They need to focus on fixing the credit market. And thats the only ‘bit’ that is broken.
