From the campaign announcement speeches to the staff they hired, former establishment candidate for US Senate Anne Estabrook and newly anointed ‘can’t miss’ establishment candidate Andy Unanue, are cut from the same cloth.

Unanue, who just jumped into the race yesterday, will miss 4 county conventions and 1 county screening tis week because he is in Colorado skiing with his family.

How serious is his candidacy?, one can only wonder since no one knows who he is and instead of hearing from him, will be hearing from his surrogates that are sent to the conventions to speak on his behalf, and Unanue will screen by phone at county screenings while he is away. How’s that for the personal touch?
The race that was just laughable is now mbarrassing due to establishment incompetence, as County chairman are knocking each other over to get to Andy Unanue’s checkbook.

But Unanue missing Republican voting events is nothing new, as he missed voting in NEW JERSEY REPUBLICAN PRIMARIES 3 TIMES between 2001-2005, (Data for ‘06 & ‘07 were not available.)

Political insiders and junkies have to wonder how a new candidate who no one knows can miss so many important conventions this week as lines are being filled and the task harder at hand to overcome. Does he know something that the rest of us lowly peasants don’t know? Like perhaps the GOP County Chairman have promised him their lines, regardless of the voting results?

The NJGOP is coming thisclose to being irrelevant as a party, and a threat to the Democrats to win any race, pushing this candidate on everyone will just get us to that point that much quicker.

This year has been a really strange one, even by NJGOP standards, let’s not forget the GOP bosses pushing for a winner-take-all primary as they backed Rudy Giuliani early, that didn’t work out so well. Then they recruited Anne Estabrook to run for the US Senate and she opened her checkbook up to the Counties in exchange for support and organizational lines that never came, and now Unanue. When does it stop? It stops when enough Conservative voters, Conservative organizations and activists say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH and demand change.
